March is a beautiful time of year in New Orleans. The weather is warm again, the flowers are in bloom, and the city’s parks are bursting with activity – from families picnicking to ducks and geese swimming in the lagoons and bayous and sunning on the grass.
Nicolas and I spent the last 2 weekends in City Park – he rode his bike all over the park – under giant, centuries-old oaks draped with Spanish Moss and around the bayou, where we got to get a little closer to the wildlife.
It’s easy to smile on days like this . . .

Teaching the geese to dance . . .

The geese checking out Nicolas’ moves . . .

Making friends . . .
Not sure if you can hear him on this, but he’s telling the geese, “Don’t worry. I’m not gonna hurt you.”
After this incident, Nicolas asked if we could come back to the park with a cage and catch one of the geese for a pet. We talked about how the goose might miss his friends and Nicolas suggested that we bring him back to the park every day so the goose wouldn’t miss his friends. Fortunately I was able to talk him into leaving the goose at the park, at least for now.
